Under the fourth phase of the National AIDS Control Program(NACP-IV), the Link Worker Scheme (LWS) has been designed to intensify andconsolidate the prevention services, focusing on the at-risk population in therural areas. The Scheme aims to address the complex needs of HIV prevention, careand support, in rural areas through identification and training of field level the workforce of Zonal Supervisors, Cluster Link Workers and other stakeholders onissues of HIV/AIDS, gender, sexuality and Sexual Tract Infections(STI).Mobilizing difficult-to-reach, other at-risk populations, such as HighRisk Groups, to access the public health services for STI, HIV Counselling andTesting Centres (ICTC), Anti-Retroviral Therapy (ART) etc. is a component ofthe Scheme. Theirs follow up back to communities is also envisaged. It alsoseeks to address the issues of stigma and discrimination in rural areas ofIndia. Agragami is implementing the project in Paschim Medinipur district with supportfrom WBSAPCS & NACO.
